1. Council elections – stand as a candidate 18 September – 9 October

You can now stand as a candidate in Council elections on 18 September (at 9am) – 9 October (noon). 21 members will be elected to the Council. You are eligible to vote and stand as a candidate in Council elections if you’ve paid the Students’ Union membership fee and registered as an attending student in TAMK.

In order to stand as a candidate, you need to fill out a candidate notification on our website or a paper form at Tamko’s office. Also, remember to sign up to an election list. Please note that Council’s working language is Finnish. Tamko has got an info about the following lists: Insinööri (engineering students’ list), SoTen Valitut Palat (social and health care students’ list) and Tradenomit (business administration students’ list).

2. Tamko’s autumn campaign – Remember to renew your student card sticker!

Student card’s green sticker (study year sticker) will be valid until 30 September 2019. If you don’t want to be surprised at a lunch line on next week by not getting the discount from your lunch, we highly recommend to renew the sticker this week. By renewing your sticker, you’ll also automatically take part in Tamko’s autumn campaign where you’ll have an opportunity to win a 100€ S group gift card!

Read more about the autumn campaign here.

3. Blood donation at TAMK 2 October

Once again it’s the time to give up some blood when FRC Blood Service comes to TAMK. On Wednesday, 2 October between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, come to the main campus (building B next to the dining area) and reach your helping hand! This event is accessible, so you can get to the place with the elevator.

If you’re unsure about your eligibility to donate, you can take an online test here (choose “In English” in the top left corner) and the momentarily blood need you can check here. Bring your ID card with you, because a student card isn’t enough. You’ll also need a Finnish social security number so that you can donate!

You can also get a stamp on your Tursaspassi from the event!

4. Tamko office pop up at Proakatemia 24 September

Tamko organizes Tamko office pop ups at Mediapolis on 17 September, 22 October and 19 November and Proakatemia on 24 September, 29 October, 26 November. Pop up is open from 9AM – 1PM.

We’ll bring with us the study year stickers, overall patches and event tickets. If you want that we bring your student card to the pop up, please inform us about the matter well before (at least 2 days before!) via email: office(at)tamko.fi. Welcome to chat, have some coffee or tea and of course to rest on Solu’s sofas!

All TAMK students and staff are welcome to join, and there is no skill requirements. We just want to get you moving. We provide all the gear except for your sports attire and indoor playing shoes. You don’t need a SportUni membership in order to attend, just say to customer service desk that you’re coming to Tolu’s sport shift.

7. Did you know all this about the intranet? It is already packed full of features!

The new intranet of Tampere Universities was launched in March 2019. Initially the intranet only included some basic functionalities, but since then a host of new features and functionalities have become available. The development of the intranet continues and new functions will be introduced this autumn.

Shortcuts to IT services

The intranet serves as a gateway to all the tools, services and systems we need on a daily basis. Click Shortcuts on the top right corner to find an alphabetical list of links to our most commonly used systems and services. One useful link is the link to our online services (IT systems).

Tip: Click Shortcuts on the top right corner. If you cannot find a link you are looking for from this list, try clicking Online services (IT systems).

Instructions and guidelines collected in the handbooks

All the study-related and other guidelines and instructions are available in the handbooks. The most important handbooks for students are the Student’s Guide and the IT Services, which are also available on the public web: tuni.fi/studentsguide and tuni.fi/it-services.

Use the effective search functions to find what you are looking for

The intranet offers effective search functions. The search has been further developed, so that it will return relevant results also when you are using multiple words as a search term. You can also conduct a search by only typing the beginning of a word as your search term; you do not have to use an asterisk as a wild card symbol.

The people search allows you to find the contact details of all staff at Tampere University and TAMK. Use the filters on top to select the target group of your search (Tampere University/TAMK). The search will not return students’ contact details.

Tip: On the “Narrow your search” tab  you can filter your search results based on the content type and the target group. Use the filters on top to select news, people, events or handbook pages as the content type and specify the target group: staff/student and Tampere University/TAMK.

Tip: Are you having trouble finding what you are looking for? Let us know! Fill out the feedback form or drop us an email at intranet(st)tuni.fi.

8. Tolu bowling night 30 September

Tolu’s monthly bowling night is here again! The TAMK students sporting association Tolu is organizing their next bowling night on the 30th of September from 18:00 to 19:00 at Space Bowling and billiards. For 5€ (including shoe rental), you can come bowl for one hour, so get your friends together join us for some leisurely fun. Tickets can be purchased at Tolu’s web-store Holvi. Please arrive by 17:50 so that we can start right at 18:00.

9. The reward for innovation culture renewal

Who can receive the University of Tampere Innovation Culture Award? Our university community plays a game changing role in renewing the surrounding society. New knowledge, inventions and ideas, novel ways of operating and individuals who challenge the current state – all these push the boundaries of possible and drive the change within our community and in the surrounding world.

Now we want to bring forth the work on and deeds of innovations and the creative minds behind them! The reward for innovation culture renewal is an acknowledgement to an individual or a group, who have contributed for the benefit of our community´s innovation culture through a single deed or long-term work.

The call for proposals is published via intranet and via the student associations´ communications channels. The reward can be granted to an individual member (e.g. student, employee, grant researcher) or a group of our community (e.g. research group, RDI-group, service unit, student association), with significant contributions to our innovation culture development or with proven record of accomplishment with inventions or innovations.

The rewarded innovations can be social or technological, whether commercialized/commercial or capitalized through other means. The most important thing is that they somehow change the current state with the aim of making the world a better place.

Leave your proposal via e-form by 30.9.2019 at 12.00. For more information, check the intranet!
