1. Student card’s autumn sticker will be valid ’till 31 January

Do you’ve a yellow sticker on your student card? It’s also known as autumn sticker and it will be valid ’till 31 January 2020, please make sure that you renew it in time! The violet sticker (also known as study year sticker 9/2020) will be valid ’till 30 September 2020, so there’s no need to renew that one.

You can renew your sticker at our office. We’re open from Monday to Friday at 9am – 4pm.

2. Tamko’s Board and Council social media weeks 14 – 28 January

Tamko’s Board and Council are having social media weeks at Tamko’s Instagram on 14 – 28 January. Welcome to check out what happens in the everyday life of Tamko volunteers. You’re also welcome to shoot some questions at us!

3. We are seeking new Harassment Contact Persons for the Student Union!

Tamko has had assumed male and female Harassment Contacts for years, who are students at TAMK. These Harassment Contacts provide help and guidance for students who have experienced disturbance in any form. We do not document these cases and the contact people have full confidentiality.  Bullying, inappropriate or discriminating behaviour are taken seriously in TAMK and Harassment Contact Persons are supporting students in these kinds of situations.

The chosen persons for the position will be trained for the part, so we are searching for emphatic, listening and reliable students of different Degree Programmes. We also hope for good written and spoken Finnish skills. Tamko´s board member and employee are supporting these Harassment Contact Persons.

4. Tamko’s evening 19 February

Welcome to play board games, sew overall patches’ and meet new people! You can bring some games, activities etc. with you. 🙂 Tamko offers evening snack!

You will get a stamp on your Tursaspassi from this event. Please note that the happening is non-alcoholic. Welcome to the Solu!

5. Downhill skiing at Sappee with Tolu & Pirate 31 January

Are you frustrated with the lack of snow and abundance of darkness? We at Tolu and Pirate have a perfect solution for those of you hoping for a wintery activity to brighten up your day: Come downhill
skiing with us to Sappee! They have that magical, wintery, snow you’ve been missing. This event is the final highlight of Tolu’s Winter Sports Week this year.

We’ve made sure to keep the prices student friendly as well, so don’t wait too long because the number of tickets is limited. Grab a friend and come hit the slopes with us!

Prices: bus ride 10€, bus+lift-ticket: 10€+18€=28€, bus+lift-ticket+equipment: 10€+18€+18€=46€, helmet: 5€.

6. Tolu’s weekly sports shift 28 January

Tolu organizes a 2-hour drop-in sports shift every Tuesday from 5PM – 7PM at TAMK’s sports hall. We’ll play a different sport each week and on next time it’s going to be beanie floorball!

All TAMK students and staff are welcome to join, and there is no skill requirements. We just want to get you moving. We provide all the gear except for your sports attire and indoor playing shoes. You don’t need a SportUni membership in order to attend, just say to customer service desk that you’re coming to Tolu’s sport shift.

7. HAPPO ry’s Talvirieha 6 February

Christmas holiday is over and we are getting back to school routine. We have a nice little jump out of the school stress as Happo ry arranges their yearly Talvirieha (Crazy winter outdoor event).

So gather up your pals, dress warmly and get to Sorsapuisto on the 6th of February starting at 18:00. The happening will go on until 21:00, as long as there are plenty of energized people on the move! From Sorsapuisto we can continue our journey towards Ilona, where the Haalaribileet is held.

At HAPPO ry’s Talvirieha you can activate yourself in many activities which will be announced later.

 

8. Tolu’s Winter Sports Week 27 – 31 January

Tolu’s Winter Sports Week is back! The “Burgeoning Muscles of Tampere” sports club (TOLU) is organizing their annual Winter Sports Week. The idea is to activate our members and provide some fun ways to get some exercise in the colder months. For you, this is a perfect opportunity to get some friends together and come try any and all of our activities. Below is a list of the activities for the week. All of Tolu’s events are alcohol free.

Monday Jan 27. – Billiards tournament and Bowling night @ Space Bowling and Billiards.

Tuesday Jan 28. – Tolu info stand during the day, and outdoor hockey (or possibly indoor floor ball) during our weekly sports shift in the evening (17:00 – 19:00)

Wednesday Jan 29. – Sledding @ Saukonpuisto. Come enjoy a classic winter pastime.

Thursday Jan 30. – Winter swimming @ Kaupinojan Sauna.

Friday Jan 31. – Ski Trip to SAPPEEn in co-operation with Pirate Ry!

9. CLINT Vasatokka trip (Lapland) 28 February – 4 March

In February we will head north! The first big trip of the semester will take you to the land of Santa Claus, reindeer, and Aurora Borealis. This is your chance for the ultimate Northern Adventure; brave the cold and the dark and experience the Northern Lights.

This time we head to Vasatokka Lapland on 28 February – 4 March. The cost for the trip starts from 349€. The tickets are now available through Timetravels here.

10. We’re looking for junior mentors!

Are you ready to share your knowledge and help a new entrepreneur to grow?  This mentorship program is a new way to build and improve your business coaching skills with an experienced business mentor from Pirkanmaan Yrityskummit ry.

Together you will be helping a new business to bloom: getting the first customers, setting up digital marketing channels or defining the product offering.  All based on the needs of the fresh entrepreneur and your insights.

To earn the credits, you need to be an active member of the mentoring team, concretely work with the entrepreneur and write a learning diary to be shared among your colleagues at the course. In addition to mentoring tasks, each junior mentor has a chance to write a development report and apply for financial reward of 200€.
