1. Propose the staff person of the year in TAMK 2019 – 2020

The Students’ Union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Tamko) has been nominating the staff member of the year in TAMK since academic year 2004 – 2005. The recognition will be given to a person who has remarkably developed education, study environment and TAMK community during the last academic year or by doing persistent work. The recognition will be granted in first weeks of academic year 2020 – 2021.

With the recognition Tamko wants to encourage good policies and motivate the staff to keep up their good work. Executive board of Tamko will decide the staff member of the year in TAMK based on written well-grounded proposals made by students and staff. Written proposals should be sent by 15th of April 2020 at noon at the latest via this form.

2. What has it been like to work or study from home during the coronavirus pandemic?

The survey titled Well-being survey 2020 – Working during the coronavirus pandemic explores how the members of the Tampere Universities community have adjusted to working and studying remotely and how the current situation has affected our staff and students. Please take a moment to fill out the survey! You will receive a link to the survey by email on Monday 6 April.

The survey is implemented in collaboration between Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, the student union of Tampere University (TREY) and the student union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Tamko). The survey is a collaborative effort that is undertaken to assess the university community’s ability to continue normal operations and monitor the levels of strain experienced by our staff and students who are working remotely under the current exceptional circumstances. The results of the survey will be used to develop our work and study arrangements during the coronavirus pandemic.

3. Feedback sessions have begun!

During the spring, the feedback will be discussed in each degree programme in students’ and staff’s joint remote feedback sessions to agree on potential development measures. Follow your own degree programme information about arrangements and remote participation. More Information can be found from Intra and from the student feedback summary collected by the Education Development Services.

4. Registrations are open – join our summer studies!

Learning Lab and Y-kampus organise summer project studies where you will improve your working life, teamworking and communication skills. Interdisciplinary teams will work with authentic challenges and develop different services or products for our own community and businesses.

We will work on digital platforms and if the corona situation allows, also face to face. English will be the working language in the common meetings, teams will work in English or in Finnish depending on the team. The summer can be part of practical training, a project work course, or part of free choice studies.

Summer 2020 includes three different options. It is possible to join some of them or all of them!

[1] Y-kampus Innovation challenges, 11.5.-19.6.

[2] Learning Lab projects, 22.6.-31.7.

[3] Tampere Summer school, 3.8.-14.8.

Please notice that you have to register separately on all three courses. Join us and have a great study summer!

5. Help fellow students – answer the Onnibus survey!

Hi fellow students! Do you have a few minutes to help our team by answering a quick survey about OnniBus?

We are doing a research on OnniBus’ customer experience and brand awareness, and your answers would give us important data. The survey is for students in Tampere region and no previous knowledge or experience about OnniBus is needed. The data collected will be handled anonymously and will only be seen by the team, course teacher and the representatives from the company.

The best part about this is that by answering our quick survey you’ll have a chance to win a free round trip ticket to anywhere in Finland with OnniBus! (1€ handling fee not included in the prize). Winners will be contacted in April-May.

Please answer to the survey by 19th of April. You can access the survey through this link. Thank you!

6. Grab some lunch to go!

Get some student-priced lunch from Juvenes Newton (at Hervanta) and Frenckell & Piha (Tampere city centre) restaurants for 2,60€. Remember to bring your valid, Kela approved student card! (Your student card is Kela approved if there’s a Kela logo on the card). As Kela’s decision, you can now buy two days’ worth of lunch at the same time. You can also pick up student meals for a friend if you can present their student card as well. Please note that we only use contactless payment (card or mobile payment). We are not accepting cash right now. As we care about your safety!
