The Students' Union of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Tamko)


Tamko is the Students' Union for all students in Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The Finnish Students' Unions are recognized and regulated by the law on Universities of Applied Sciences. The basic task of Tamko is to represent the students within the TAMK administration and to improve their studies as well as social conditions. Tamko also organizes tutoring, sports services and other leisure activities.

All students of TAMK are welcome to join The Students' Union. Membership provides dozens of benefits, and therefore Tamko has around 5 500 members. Members of Tamko receive a national student ID-card which entitles to a number of discounts. Every member of Tamko also has one vote and the possibility to become a candidate in the elections of the council of representatives (valtuusto) that acts as the highest authority. The council elects the board (hallitus) that is responsible for the activities of Tamko together with the staff.
