The easiest way to become a member of Tamko and get the Finnish student card is to fill in the online membership form and send your photo to our office by e-mail. For new students a membership form will be mailed with the acceptance letter.

There are two kinds of student cards, so please read throuhg the terms of the blue and the green student cards first. The green student card can be given out to all students in TAMK, and the blue one can be given out only for so called full-time students. Only the holders of the blue student card get the 50 % discount of trains and long-distance buses. Other benefits are pretty much the same with both student cards.

The terms of the blue student card and Finnish Railroad (VR) student discount:

  1. You have registered yourself present at TAMK for the academic year 2009 – 2010 or you have confirmed the acceptance of the study place for the academic year 2009 – 2010.
  2. You are currently studying for a bachelor of a master degree.
  3. You do not have a prior master degree.
  4. You’re a fulltime student of TAMK or a foreign exchange student studying fulltime at TAMK.
  5. You do not receive income from a fulltime job or any similar employment or equivalent income as an entrepreneur.
  6. The uninterrupted study period extends over 8 months, with the exception of exchange students who benefit from the discount when the duration of the studies in Finland is at least 3 months.
  7. You promise to return your student card when you graduate, terminate your studies, resign from the Students' Union or if you no longer meet these terms.

The terms of the green student card:

  1. You have registered yourself present at TAMK for the academic year 2009 – 2010 or you have confirmed the acceptance of the study place for the academic year 2009 – 2010.
  2. You promise to return your student card when you graduate, terminate your studies, resign from the Student Union or if you no longer meet these terms.
